Fishing - Poles - the dirty race not the rod type.
All,

I love an occasional fish, nothing better in the sun.

Now I am not very good at it, in fact truly awful, however I have found it increasingly difficult to catch carp over the past 6-9 months.

Left the local tackle shop in a moment ago. Bloke that owns it reckons carp and pike stocks are down 80%.

Poles using huge nets to catch and sell/eat carp.

I can take their women but please leave our carp alone.

I fish quite a bit over Parklands in Upminster, had a big problem with eastern europeans coming over and nicking fish. The parks police do come over and throw em off, but they just keep coming back. They take anything they can catch. Roach , Bream Pike Carp...anything they can get their hands on. Fks me right off as the stock of Carp in Parklands is quality, some really good fish in there, and these fkrs just want to eat em. I was told only last night, that Monday morning just gone, the bailiff turned up at 8 in the morning to collect tickets and there were three of em in the lake on boat trawling a fkn net across the lake. Getting really bad now in the park lakes. The fenced off private fisheries still get em, but not as bad as the parks, that aint fenced off.

Same in Czech they love a Carp. My current squeeze is a Pole and she's a Mila Kunis clone....gorgeous.

Re: Fishing - Poles - the dirty race not the rod type.
About a month ago my wife and I decided to go for a walk by Hanningfield Reservoir. Arrived at the small car park on the opposite side to the lodge and found it full of cars with eastern European plates. So, managed to park up the road and then started our walk along the perimeter wall. The first half mile or so was shoulder to shoulder Eastern Europeans fishing, most drinking bottles of booze (spirits - this was 10:00 on a Sunday morning). Some had their families with them. When we eventually got past them all we noticed that a speedboat was heading from the lodge area towards our side of the lake. Couldn't believe it when he pulled up by us and told us we were trespassing and had to leave. Pointed out the numerous Eastern Europeans to which he said they can stay as they each have a fishing permit and only those with a permit are allowed on the premises. Asked if he had checked to see their permits to which he just shrugged and turned away.

Carp is absolutely disgusting, I don't see how anyone could want to it.

It's a traditional Polish dish so as far as I'm concerned, they can fish away.

We called it The Fastwater... I fished there in the eighties mostly as access was awkward, I used an old metal rail as a ladder to get down the bank that someone had left there - sometimes got caught by the tide from one way then the sluice from the other when down in the water... Wellies filled, maggots floating away, keepnet under 6 feet of water all of a sudden..! I fished it in the winter a lot, the running water from the weir/sluice seemed to keep them keen...Low running water trotting and holding back was best with a deep on a bend there having a shoal of good bream - , the odd little Chub, loads of silver fish - Dace, Roach, mostly goers, Perch, the odd Carp to double figures... was consistent and varied and secluded though about 6 of us fished along it sometimes at different spots with a mix of swims.. loved it...

Few came over with shark hooks where I fish bailiff told them to go away and get some proper gear. Came back with bigger hooks. Carp is a delicacy in Poland and you can now buy it at billingsgate.

I see the Eastern Europeans fishing all the time up in the fens.

Usually spinning for Pike. Never seen one catch anything.

They either don't know or don't care if it's in season. All the signs up there are in about 20 different languages and they're everywhere so I guess they just don't care.

In my neck of the woods, it's the Asians taking vast amounts of undersized fish. They mince them up and make fishcakes.
Bastards. Huge fines if caught.
We walk along and look in their buckets, if there's undersized fish in there, which pretty much is all the time, we tip them back in the drink, dead or alive.
That's when the fights start.

Good few years ago I saw a 'type' with a spinning rod and spinner trying to cast across the backs of carp @ Walthamstow reservoirs - I gave him my best frown.. that showed him...
Also on the Lea on the North Marsh the bomb crater swim by the nature reserve has/had lots of fixed lines across it trying for the fish from the relief channel... Was best fishery in the country for a bit mid/late 80s, early 90s...sigh...

Yeah, such a shame you can't torture fish because the Easterns are eating them.

Will cry about it all night.

My old man and BinLaw are keen anglers... members of a few clubs... told me a couple of years ago about the Eastern Euro's taking and eating carp (along with Swans) ... did ask me Old man why people did not eat Carp... said that the meat is shit as it's a bottom feeder?? * shrugs shoulders *
